My daughter started showing signs of illness late Saturday night. I left her at home with Daddy on Sunday morning so I could teach Sunday school and help in the nursery during the worship service. Monday we declared a Pajama Day and snuggled on the couch, reading books and watching Netflix.
Our Pajama Day has turned into a Pajama Week with much of each day spent like this…
In times like these, I remind myself of the blessing I have in being able to take care of my child–even through the sleep-deprived nights. And what a privilege it is to hold her feverish body close and comfort her with whispered songs of worship.
God has been speaking to my heart recently, admonishing me not to waste the time I have with my daughter right now. The months and years slip by so fast. They already have.
So, even though toys are scattered across the floor, the laundry sits undone and the dishes are piled up in the sink, I am cherishing the cuddles and the cries. Praying for patience and giving grace–to myself and my daughter. Treasuring the time together.
Because the housework will be here forever…

Thank you for hosting the Link-up! Praying for your daughter to get well soon. Although those sick days can be frustrating, they can also be times of great blessing. Snuggling with a sick child, comforting them – being Christ to them – that’s one of the blessings of “Momhood!”
