Welcome to another month of the Book to Brain Scripture Memory Challenge. This year we are focusing on the Gospel by memorizing one Scripture passage a month that is related to the message of the Gospel or that will help us to apply it to our everyday lives. Are you in?
When February rolls around most everyone has love on the brain. Am I right? I really like the passage in 1 John 4:7-12. It is such a wonderful reminder of where love began along with why and how we can love God and others.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”
God loved us so much that He sent Jesus Christ to be the propitiation for our sins so that we might live through Him! This is such an important concept to grasp as it is the only message that allows us to live in faith, hope and love. In this is love–Jesus Christ died in your place and mine (He became our substitute), took on the punishment we deserve because of our sin and rose from the dead to cleanse us from our guilt and give us life. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is!
This month we are going to focus on memorizing 1 John 4:9-10 so we can meditate on the amazing grace and love of our Lord and Savior. You are more than welcome to memorize the entire passage that I quoted above if you would like, but I only made printables for verses nine and ten.
Speaking of which… I changed the format of the printables! To better equip you to memorize the Word of God, I am going to try and put together a Scripture memory printable pack in PDF form every month. It will include one 8×10 printable with the Bible verses to frame, two smaller note cards with the verses to cut out and use wherever you want, and two blank note cards to write other verses you may be memorizing.
Are you joining in? You can let others know about the Book to Brain Scripture Memory Challenge by sharing on Facebook, pinning the graphics on Pinterst and tweeting about it on Twitter. Be sure to use the hashtag #BookToBrain and feel free to use the examples below!
I would love to know that you are joining in, so be sure to leave me a comment! May we be overwhelmed with the love of God this month as we meditate on His Word and the life-giving message of the gospel.
How has the realization of God’s great love transformed your life?
