Review & Reflection: September 2012

Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile, may remember a monthly review I did just for fun and to keep people updated on what’s going on in my life. Because many of my readers want more of a glimpse into my personal life, I’ve decided to start it up again.

Every month I plan to post a Review & Reflection post on (or near) the last day of the month. I hope you will enjoy the updates and are encouraged to share what’s going on in your life in a comment!

Family Update

After being off with an ankle injury for almost six months, Matt is finally back at work! It has been a fairly easy adjustment for us all, but we do miss having an abundance of family time.

Claire is almost 16 months old and talking more every day. Her favorite phrase at the moment is “2…1…Blast off!” She enjoys climbing onto everything, dancing, singing and reading. She is a spirited little girl and keeps me from getting bored most days.

I started a SAHMs group with a few friends that have kiddos around Claire’s age (ALL girls, so far!). We plan to meet twice a month–once for an afternoon playdate and once for an evening mom’s night out. It will be good for us. I think we both needed a little more quality time with girlfriends. :)

What I’m Into This Month

On My Heart: After a couple of rough weeks of very little sleep, I have been striving to cultivate gratitude and joy. Remembering the difference between happiness and joy has helped me maintain a joyful heart most day. I am so grateful for the strength I find in Christ and for my husband who has been a tremendous support!

On My Nightstand: I have been reading A Circle of Quiet by Madeleine L’Engle off and on for over a month now. I’ve had difficulty finding much time to read lately…

On My Kindle: I just started Every Writer Needs a Tribe by Jeff Goins a few days ago. It has been a good read so far. I always enjoy his style of writing and am inspired after reading his work.

On My Television: My husband and I were watching Dr. Who on Netflix quite a bit before he returned to work. It is a very addictive TV show! I’m looking forward to the new season. Claire has started watching a little television. I don’t mind as it gives me a little break from entertaining her myself. She is obsessed with a farm animal DVD that we check out from the library. I’m pretty sure I could sing the songs from it in my sleep!

In My Kitchen: This past week one of my friends had a Pinterest party at her house. She made lunch and invited us to bring a dessert or snack that we found on Pinterest. I made a Chocolate Triffle, which was delicious. (BTW, are you following my Pinterest boards? You should!)

In My Ears: Good ol’ Waterdeep. I never get tired of listening to them… I miss seeing them perform live!

Blogs I’m Stalking: Nikki over at Simply Striving has really blessed my heart the past couple weeks. I love her desire to praise the Lord in all thing and allow God to refine her in the process.

Looking Forward

I’m excited about what I have planned for Live Called in October. I will be focusing on studying the God’s Word and sharing several different Bible methods to help us dive deeper during our quiet times. Also, I will be starting a new on-going series for parents of toddlers and preschoolers on the first Tuesday of every month, so be sure to check back then for more details!

What have you been up to this month?
