This weekend in Sunday School I will be teaching the second Bible lesson in The Gift of a Savior. It’s about the angel visiting Mary and foretelling the birth of Jesus.
As I read through the Scripture passage this morning, one verse really stood out to me.
“And Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.” -Luke 1:38
Mary responded with the heart of surrender.
This realization made me reflect on my own response to different circumstances that God has allowed in the past and present. Do I reply with the attitude of a servant of the Lord and accept His will with humility? Have I truly surrendered every area of my life to the sovereignty of my Savoir?
I believe that the art of surrender and contentment is a learning process. And I’m learning. Slowly, but surely.
