The melodic chime of the alarm awakens me at 6 a.m. from a restful sleep. I sit up with a smile, stretching my arms above my head. Sending up a quick prayer of thanks to my Savior for another day, I quietly slip out to the living room. Settling on the couch I open my Bible and the words of life renew and strengthen me for the day ahead. I bow my head and lay out my day before the Lord, lift up loved ones and praise God for the blessings in my life. When my daughter wakes up, we sing “This is the Day that the Lord Has Made” as we begin our day together.
This is how I plan to begin my day each morning, but it doesn’t always happen…
Some morning start late. Other days begin with me awakening to the sound of a little voice whimpering “Mommy!”
Like today. As I type-this with one hand, my sweet babe is slumbering in my arms. I haven’t had a chance to read my Bible, but I can still greet the day correctly.
How to Properly Welcome the Day
Prayerfully. You don’t have to say a long, drawn out prayer. Just a simple morning prayer of “Lord, help me through this day!” will be honored when spoken with a humble heart (Philippians 4:6)
Joyfully. Some mornings you may not have a smile on your face, but you can still make the decision to choose joy and thank the Creator for another day. My daughter and I try to remember to sing a song of praise before breakfast. Sometimes watching her dance is the reminder I need to be joyful in all things (Philippians 4:4).
I pray you have a wonderful and blessed day today, my friend.
