To continue the celebration of launching my eBook, Clean Enough, I thought it would be fun to do a little housekeeping question and answer post. I found a meme similar to this several years ago and changed it up a bit to gear it specifically for homemakers. I hope you will enjoy reading my answers. I’m sure some of them will help confirm that I am no-so-perfect housewife, just like you!
Also, I would lovee to read your answers! I have added a blog hop form at the bottom of the post so you can link up posts with your own answers to these questions. Let’s think of it as our overwhelmed homemaker online slumber party! 😉
Aprons – Yes or No?
I’m actually quite obsessed with aprons. I don’t like to say I collect them, but I definitely have a collection…. My favorite one is from Flirty Aprons.
Bathrooms – How many do you have?
Two. And I don’t particularly like to clean either. My daughter, however, loves cleaning the toilet.
Clothesline – Do you have one?
No, but I hope to have one when we purchase a home. I currently have a tumble dryer and a fold-up clothes rack that I use often.
Dusting – How often?
Once a week, if necessary.
Everyday – One housekeeping task you do everyday?
Clutter pick-up. Also, the dishes and counters almost always get done every day. As I mentioned in my book, a messy kitchen is one of my stress areas.
Family – Does your family help with household chores?
Absolutely! Even my 22-month-old daughter helps with the housekeeping.
Garbage Disposal – Do you have one?
Yes. It’s used quite often.
Home Management Notebook – Do you use one? What’s in it?
I keep separate smaller notebooks instead of having everything all in one big one . I currently have a Budget Notebook, Homeschool Notebook, and Recipes Notebook.
Ironing – Love it or hate it?
Hate it. I don’t iron. I buy things that don’t wrinkle or use a spray bottle of water on clothes that are. My husband will iron from time to time.
Junk Drawer – Where is it?
Right by the front drawer. I should probably go through and declutter that thing.
Kitchen – Design and decor?
I’m slowly getting my kitchen together, but can’t do much in a rental. I eventually want a vintage red, black and aqua look…
Love – What is your favorite part of homemaking?
Organizing/Decluttering. And writing about it, of course!
Mopping – How often does it get done?
Honestly? It’s something that rarely gets done in my home, aside from spot cleaning.
Natural Cleaning Products– Do you use them?
Yes! You can find recipes and labels for the ones I currently use in my book.
Overwhelmed – What part of homemaking stresses you out the most?
Making dinner. I love to cook, but it’s a lot more stressful with a little one underfoot. 🙂
Pets – Do you have any mess-making critters in the house?
No, not unless you consider my toddler a pet.
Quiet – What do you enjoy doing when you get a quiet moment?
READ. The Bible, a book, blog posts, magazines….
Recipes – How do you organize them?
I have a notebook to hold my favorite and most used recipes. I also have a folder of recipes I want to try and several recipes books.
Style of House – What kind of home do you live in?
At the moment we have a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom duplex.
Tablecloth – Do you use one on a regular basis?
No, we don’t use one very often.
Under the Kitchen Sink – What do you have under there?
Several glass jars to re-use, flower vases, dish soap, sponges, etc. It’s a bit of a mess right now and on my Spring cleaning to-do list.
Vacuuming – How many times a week does it get done?
Usually once a week.
Washing Clothes – How many loads do you do a week?
At least one a day since we are using cloth diapers.
X’s – Do you keep a to-do list and cross the tasks off?
Oh yes! Although I usually keep most of my notes on my iPhone now. (BTW, have you entered the HomeRoutines app giveaway?)
Yard Work – Who does what?
Maintenance takes care of all of that. One of the perks of renting!
ZZZ’s – What is your last housekeeping task of the day?
Usually, the dinner dishes and sweeping the kitchen floor or a quick clutter pick-up.
