Homemade Trail Mix Recipe + Thrive @ Home Link-Up

Did you know that tomorrow is National Trail Mix Day?

I have to admit that trail mix is one of my favorite snacks. It is healthy and filling, tastes good, and has plenty of protein and other nutrients. I have found that it is much cheaper to make our own rather than buy it pre-made. Not only that, but you get to put what you want in it, which is always a nice bonus!

I usually buy all of my ingredents from Aldi because it is inexpensive and I shop there often. However, it may be more cost effective to by in bulk at Sam’s Club or Costco if you have a large family and want to make a bigger batch.

Homemade Trail Mix
  • 2 cannisters of peanuts
  • 1 box of raisins
  • 1 bag of mixed dried berries
  • 1 bag of M&Ms
  1. Dump all ingredients in a large bowl and stir together very well, breaking up clumps. Transfer trail mix into re-usable containers to store.

Extra ingredients you could add:

  • Other types of nuts
  • Banana chips
  • Dried tropical fruit
  • Sesame or sunflower seeds

Whip up a batch of tasty trail mix and celebrate National Trail Mix Day tomorrow!

  1. I get the best trail-mix at Wal-Mart: dried cranberries, raisins, almonds and almond slivers, and dark chocolate. OMG I eat it by the fistfuls.
