Did you know that tomorrow is National Trail Mix Day?
I have to admit that trail mix is one of my favorite snacks. It is healthy and filling, tastes good, and has plenty of protein and other nutrients. I have found that it is much cheaper to make our own rather than buy it pre-made. Not only that, but you get to put what you want in it, which is always a nice bonus!
I usually buy all of my ingredents from Aldi because it is inexpensive and I shop there often. However, it may be more cost effective to by in bulk at Sam’s Club or Costco if you have a large family and want to make a bigger batch.
- 2 cannisters of peanuts
- 1 box of raisins
- 1 bag of mixed dried berries
- 1 bag of M&Ms
- Dump all ingredients in a large bowl and stir together very well, breaking up clumps. Transfer trail mix into re-usable containers to store.
Extra ingredients you could add:
- Other types of nuts
- Banana chips
- Dried tropical fruit
- Sesame or sunflower seeds
Whip up a batch of tasty trail mix and celebrate National Trail Mix Day tomorrow!
